UPDATE: Due to the overwhelming popularity of this event, we’re closing comments to new query letters a little early, at 4pm GMT, to give Madeleine time to read and critique. However, Madeleine would love to have any additional submissions sent to her directly via her submission process. While these won’t be critiqued personally, they will be read and considered.
We’ve learned so much from Madeleine’s comments on your query letters today, and hope you have too! Remember, you can still submit until 4pm GMT, but for those of you who aren't at your query stage yet, there will be more critique events in the future.
Welcome to our very first Agent Pitch Critique – an online event dedicated to making your query (also known as your manuscript cover letter or pitch) as good as it can be.
Here at Novelicious, we’re pretty invested in your writing dreams and aspirations. This is why we’ve asked literary agent Madeleine Milburn to cast her expert eye over your query letters and offer concise advice on how to hone and improve them.
For the next few hours (ending at 4pm GMT on Tuesday 3 February), you can post your manuscript queries (a maximum of one per person) in the comments of this post. Madeleine will be popping in throughout the day – and beyond depending on how many participants we have – to respond with her thoughts. Remember, the goal is to help you improve your query, so all comments will be constructive. If she likes what she reads, Madeleine may even request a full pitch and sample chapters from you.
