After the very passionate reactions to Before I Go to Sleep by SJ Watson – and the film adaptation which starred Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong – it’s time to prepare yourself for the next Book vs Film Club pick: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
The film stars Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck in the lead roles and the trailer paints a dark and intriguing picture indeed. The book has already sparked plenty of debate, with many either loving or hating it and some taking issue with the ending. Yet, with the adaptation due out in early October, more debate is sure to arrive. It seems Flynn has changed the ending for the film!
To participate in the Book vs Film Club and be a part of the mounting hype, all you have to do is get on Twitter and join the debate by tweeting using #bookvsfilmclub. Do what you lovely book nerds do best – DISCUSS! Did you like the book or hate it? Did not knowing the end drive you mad or did you guess it early on? What do you think of the casting? Are you excited about seeing the film or should this story have been left as a book? Share your thoughts, contradict those of others, and generally just get involved! After all, the only thing better than reading a book is talking about it afterwards!
If you are London-based, then feel free to email amanda@novelicious.com for more information about the in-person meet-up. Otherwise, see the film locally wherever you may be and join the debate once you've seen it. For more information, follow @bookvsfilmclub on Twitter.
