November's adaptations have their fair share of teen angst, vampires, werewolves, mental illness and secrets... and that's just Twilight! From a classic Dickens adaptation to a modern day blood-thirsty love triangle, November has it covered. And beyond the adaptations are some of the finest films to come out of this year's film festivals - finally available to the viewing public!
Friday 16th November
The final installment to the Twilight series arrives with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part Two. The whole gang are back for this epic finale, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer - including Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Taylor Lautner. Fans who were disappointed by the fairly anti-climactic ending to the book might be excited to hear that the ending has apparently been altered for the big screen. Not sure how though...
Based on the book by Matthew Quick, The Silver Linings Playbook pits Bradley Cooper against Jennifer Lawrence. Cooper plays Pat, a man who has recently been released from a mental institution and is trying to find his feet. Meeting the mysterious Tiffany (Lawrence) looks like it will set his goals a little off course - but these two together are sure to make cinematic magic.
Friday 30th August
Charles Dickens' Great Expectations gets a gorgeous new adaptation, this time starring Jeremy Irvine, Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham-Carter as Miss Havisham. The latest take on the classic tale has received great reviews so far and was adapted for the big screen by author and screenwriter David Nicholls (One Day, Starter For Ten).
Elsewhere, Argo is an absolute must-see for fans of tense, brilliantly-acted drama. The film is based on a de-classified true story about a daring escape attempt for a group of American diplomats trapped in revolutionary Iran. Ben Affleck both directs and stars.
